Many cities in the U.S. are just like the nation's capital; laiden with a population of former (retired) military personnel and dependants. Here in D.C. we've taken the annual alumni reunion thing one step further; we have our local get togethers once a month. A spin-off of sorts from the Ghettogether Reunion, the first gathering took place after helping a SAHS alumni move into his new home in Ellicott City, Md., one Sunday afternoon in 2001. Speedy Sutton '82 and Jake Hamilton '84 helped fellow Stallion, Marco Ocadiz '84, move into his new home and while sitting around taking a rest and listening to some "old jams", we decided to meet at Marco's the following weekend for a barbecue and a possible swim in the pool. We did so for the next few weeks until the decision was made by all to meet at a different location in the D.C. area once a month. The monthly gatherings usually have 8-10 alumni, plus their families, in attendance.
